Tripletail!

A nice piece of Tripletail fresh off the grill!

My children are both huge fish lover's. It makes no difference what type of fish it seems. My oldest daughter's absolute favorite though is tripletail. This is a fairly common fish in our parts. It is most widely available at the fish market from April through October. To learn more click here.

To cook this really mild and moist fish we just use flat irons coated with butter. Apply a light seasoning of paprika, salt and pepper. Cook til no longer opaque. T. had his blackened and it was so good like that as well!

Speaking of blackening...

Think my toe is broken??? This was about an hour after the injury occurred and already purple!!! I think it's just jammed but it sure hurts like H***!

Now onto something completely different. I had bought a case of apricots from Costco thinking that the girls would eat them. This was not to be. After my 2 attempts at the Royal Foodie Joust this was what I had left. Instead of feeding them to Enorma I decided to pull out our food dehydrator and let them dry for a while. They were absolutely delicious and I can't wait to get some more from Costco!!!

Leftover apricots from my Royal Foodie Joust entry ready to dry on the dehydrator!

I guess you probably have noticed that my mind is a little scattered by the jumble of this post but having the girl's home this summer is cutting into my blogging time. I wouldn't trade it for the world but you are going to have to put up with me being a touch scattered. We are also preparing for vacation so that is making it a little more hectic then it should be!

As Always...

Happy Entertaining!!!

As for toes, I hurt my leg three weeks before (fell off my bicycle) and my left foot was bruised. We were afraid that it was broken, but fortunately it wasn't, but it was swollen twice its size and it my foot next to my toes was black and purple. It still hurts a bit, but it is much better now.

Have your leg rest!

By the way, the food look well, congrats!

Second, I've never heard of tripletail and I'll be on the lookout for it.

Thirdly, your blog needs a name change..."No FEET Entertaining"! lol

See ya soon, twinkletoes. :)

PS, the toe's not broken - just busted up.

Oh ouch! And of course, it must hurt with every step you take. Dried apricots...yum....though I love them fresh, too.

Judy, the fish looks yummy! My kids love fish, too. Our fave is tilapia, pan seared with lots of garlic and cavender's greek seasoning.

About the toe... I feel your pain. When I was 7 months pregnant I bent my pinkie toe all the way to the side 2x in one day. The whole side of my foot was purple. Couldn't walk right for over a month. Then my 5yo ran into it when I had it propped up. After a couple of seconds of white hot agony, I realized it finally didn't hurt any more. Apparently is was dislocated and he popped it back it. Aren't kids great!! :P

First time I hear of tripletail! No wonder it lives so far from the mediterranean sea ;-)

My daughter eats fish too and many kinds but her favourite is sole.

I love fish made the way you say... all flavours stay there... Mmmmm

Hi Judy,

I am a retired paramedic and I "prescribe" 2 Limoncillo cocktails, apply ice directly to the toe and to blog in the morning ....

I know how that hurts.

As an avid seafood fan; I gotta try that Tripletail. I'm a little embarrassed to say I've never heard of it before. Can I find it at fish markets in New England?

Ever heard of MI5 PAS MIND CONTROL food programming JUDY?

You are a victim of it and your blog is full of mind control programming commands.

You are a victim of extreme abuse at the hands of the Illuminati but will have little or no conscious recognition of that. It is all in your subconscious mind.

Please try to WAKE UP and remember AND take this blog down.

Apart from that - you have a way with words, great style - just do it off your own bat!

Best wishes

Wow Anonymous - Wise Owl -I would delete this but it is so out there it's funny! Maybe you should put the pipe down for a bit?

Hey Jenn-The apricots were great but I over dried them a bit for the girls. I loved them though so even better!

I remember some dried apricots from my childhood that were really dark and delicious ( and old too).
Some people say that nuts taste better and are better for you if soaked in water and then put into a dehydrator?

kiara huz said...

That looks tasty! My family really enjoys seafood so I'm going to try it out this weekend. I love Costco!
Buying in bulk can be wasteful sometimes though...
